This is a refernce shot, most of my pictures are taken from the first large fence post on the left of this picture, without zoom. The fence post is roughly 30 yards from my porch.

Details

Quicksilver Resources began this project on July 26, 2010, dubbed "Alliance West Speedway". The project consists of seven (7) natural gas wells being drilled behind my home, and under Harriet Creek Ranch. They held two "Town Halls" for local residents about the project, July 28th & 29th. My family attended the July 28th meeting, there were three other households represented. I believe there were less than that on the second night. They provided a slide show with details and contact information. In the slide show there was a survey of the project, putting the well heads at a distance of 223 feet from my propery line. You be the judge.

This page has been put together in an effort to document what my family will go through during this project, as well as give others an idea of what we see and hear being this close to the project, information you may not ever see unless you were standing in my backyard.

My Family

Currently we are a family of three, with a bun in the oven, and a cancern stricken relative. We purchased this home in May, with our family in mind; the lovely view, the quiet neighborhood, and the end of life lifestyle we wanted to give my mother-in-law. Our biggest concern is the possible health risks for our three year old, and a soon to be new born. The noise and other discomforts caused by the project are our second concerns.

Not much to report since the wall went up. We still feel the rumble of trucks as they come and go, and there has been some loud clanging noises, like steel on steel, but we have no way of knowing what the sound actually is coming from. The derek should be going up this week, because according to their timeline they want to start drilling well #1 on August 12th.

Video File - Work still going on, just behind the wall.

The wall is up, kinda ugly, but as long as it does its job, it'll be gone in 8-9 months. I can still feel the truck engines, but the actual sound level has dropped.

Video File - Taken from the yard, just the crane installing girder..

Video File - Taken from the porch, sound does no justice.

Video File - You can see the progress on the pad

Taken around 7pm once they had completed work for the day.

Lots of progress today. You can see the nearly completed pad site. Lots of gravel out there, lots of gravel dust.

West side of the pad site.

Crane & girter delivery truck. You can just make out the already installed girters to the left of the image behind the trees. These will be what the sound barrier attaches to.

Just a quick shot of the sound barrier wall still packed away on the truck. Not taken directly from the porch or fence, just random in the middle of the yard.

Inbound gravel truck, the dust clouds just keep growing.

Roller, Grader, and Gravel Truck. Truck is making the turn to drop the gravel.

Gravel pit being built around the well heads, as well as the delivery truck, roller, and dozer.
